Transmission Warranty Policies

Standard Free Warranty

  • For transmissions manufactured from 1991 to 2000: 3-month replacement and return warranty.
  • For transmissions manufactured from 2001 to 2025: 6-month replacement and return warranty.

Mandatory Installation Guidelines to Maintain Warranty

To preserve the validity of your warranty, adherence to the following installation procedures is required:

  • Component Replacement: Replace key components including a new filter, pan gasket, and front seal to ensure proper sealing and function.
  • Torque Converter Seating: Confirm that the torque converter is fully and correctly seated to prevent operational failures or damage.
  • Cooler and Line Flush: Flush all transmission coolers and fluid lines before filling with manufacturer-approved fluid.
  • Error Code Management: Clear all existing transmission error codes and maintain records of new ones after installation.
  • Vehicle Reprogramming: Complete any required ECU/TCU updates or reprogramming for proper transmission operation and warranty compliance.

Proper documentation of these steps, including receipts, flushing records, and reprogramming confirmation, is required for warranty claims.

CVT Transmission Installation and Warranty Requirements

  • Replace Transmission Controller: Install a new transmission controller to ensure proper communication and operation.
  • Use OEM Fluid Only: Use only manufacturer-approved fluid (e.g., genuine Nissan CVT fluid).
  • Follow Manufacturer Instructions: Follow the OEM’s installation and programming guidelines, including TCM reprogramming or initialization.

Failure to follow these CVT-specific steps may result in warranty denial. Keep records of all installation and fluid details for verification.

Conditions That Void the Warranty

  • Overheating or Lubrication Damage: Damage from overheating or poor lubrication is not covered.
  • Failure to Perform Required Reprogramming: Skipping transmission or vehicle computer updates voids the warranty.
  • Use of Non-OEM Fluid: Using aftermarket or incorrect fluids voids coverage.
  • Modification or Alteration: Any non-original modifications or damage after receipt void the warranty.

Returns and Replacements

  • On-Vehicle Inspection Required: The transmission must be inspected while installed before a return is approved.
  • Shipping Costs: All warranty-approved return shipping costs are covered by MotorVault.

Additional Terms and Conditions

  • Exclusions: The warranty excludes labor, towing, transportation, and indirect damages. Electrical issues and leaks caused by missing seals or gaskets are not covered.
  • Compatibility Guarantee: All OEM parts are designed to perfectly match original specifications for your vehicle make, model, and year.
  • Regular Maintenance: Follow all manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedules to keep your warranty valid.
